Choosing between them

Ksamil has water that nowhere else in Albania matches, and in the second half of July and in August it is very crowded, expensive and short of parking.

Himarë gives you a town — shops, restaurants open in the evening, buses — with a string of beaches within a short drive and the best of the Riviera on both sides.

A common compromise: base in Himarë and give Ksamil a single early-morning day trip.
