By air

Tirana International Airport handles almost all scheduled traffic. Kukës has a small number of flights. An airport near Vlorë has been under construction with repeatedly revised opening dates — do not plan around it until it is operating.

By sea

Durrës – Bari, about 8–9 hours, overnight, year-round.
Durrës – Ancona, about 16–18 hours, year-round with a winter reduction.
Vlorë – Brindisi, about 5–7 hours, seasonal and not operated every year.
Sarandë – Corfu, 30–70 minutes, year-round with far higher summer frequency.

By land

Morinë on the A1 from Kosovo is the busiest and fastest crossing. Hani i Hotit north of Shkodër serves Montenegro. Qafë Thanë near Pogradec serves North Macedonia. Kakavijë south of Gjirokastër serves Greece and queues heavily in summer and at holidays.

If you are driving a hire car across a border, confirm in advance that the agreement permits it and that green-card insurance is included.
